At Mastermind Toys, we pride ourselves on offering only the highest quality toys on the market. Though it happens very rarely, products we carry may be subject to a safety recall by the vendor. We take product recalls very seriously and pledge to inform our customers promptly when these issues arise.
Product:This recall involves the Yoto Mini, a portable connected screen-free speaker intended for children ages three to twelve. The Yoto Mini speaker is operated by use of Yoto cards and is designed to play audiobooks, music, radio and podcasts. The speakers are pale gray with orange tactile controls and a pixel display. The model name Yoto Mini, SKU PRPLXX00860, and serial number are located on the base of the product. The recalled Yoto Mini was sold with a charging cable included but no adaptor or charger.
Issue: The speaker’s lithium-ion battery can overheat and catch fire, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
As of April 1, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received six reports of battery overheating or melting with no reported injuries.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Yoto to receive a free replacement smart charging cable.

Product: Pacifier and bottle accessories sold with Calico Critters Flocked Animal Figures. The pacifier and bottle accessories measure approximately 1.07 cm (0.42 inches) long and 1.90 cm (0.75 inches) long, respectively. The pacifier accessories were sold in yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, blue and teal colours. The bottle accessories were sold in yellow, pink, blue and orange colours. One style of the bottle has two yellow handles.
The bottle and pacifier accessories were sold with the following products listed by item number. This item number is printed on the bottom of the product packaging. The recall does not include item numbers listed below which were sold with accessories other than the pacifier and bottle accessories; only the bottle and pacifier accessories are being recalled.

Hazard: The bottle and pacifier accessories pose a potential choking hazard to children under 3 years of age. The packaging of the product is labelled for ages 3+ and cautions that it contains small parts which are not suitable for children under 3 years.
As of March 3, 2023, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of choking incidents, including one death of a child due to choking on an accessory.
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Epoch Everlasting Play LLC for a free replacement accessory.
This recall involves Scholastic Canada Ltd. The Shake Look Touch (“the Book”), ISBN # 9781338645644. The Shake Look Touch book (“the Book”) is a small plush book, with touch and feel components. The Book measures 5.9 x 1.7 x 8.4 inches. The Books that will be included within this recall include two pom poms (one green and one pink) attached to the Book with strings. Scholastic currently sells a version of the book that does not include pom poms and is not being recalled.
The pom poms attached to the Book with strings could become detached from the book, releasing small parts and posing a choking hazard.
As of July 7, 2022 the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the Unites States, the company has received 2 report of pom pom detachment and no report of choking or injuries.
Consumers should immediately stop using the book and contact 1-800-268-3848 to begin the return process. Consumers will be provided a shipping label and asked to return the books to Scholastic Canada Ltd. Upon receipt of the returned Book, consumers will be issued a refund.
Batch Lot Number: 4795. The Lot number is located on the back of the tag, directly under the MM retail sticker near the UPC
This recall is being made with the knowledge of Health Canada and has been initiated due to the discovery of levels of lead and cadmium exceeding regulated limits detected during a random compliance test. This means that the product does not meet current safety standards for children’s jewelry and it is currently prohibited from any resale
